Company History
Fifty-nine years of providing award-winning glass and door services
From a small business to the most diverse glass and door company in Wisconsin
Tri City Glass & Door adds a Green Bay location to better serve its customers
In 1986, Tri City Glass & Door added a second location and opened its Green Bay store at 318 N. Military Avenue. Then, 23 years to Dec. 28, 2009, when Tri City Glass & Door purchased Old Castle Glass in Green Bay, adding 22 employees, 11 vehicles, and more than 500 customers to the Tri City Family. With two locations offering similar services in Green Bay, Tri City combined the two stores into one new, larger location at 1811 E. Mason Street to better serve our Green Bay customers.
Ushering in the 90s under new family ownership
In October 1991, we purchased Valley Door Sales in Appleton to develop our furnishing glass and glazing products and enhance our offerings in construction and builder’s hardware. One year later, the ownership of Tri City Glass & Door was transferred to four of Richard and Shirley Bender’s children: Charles Bender, president; Larry Bender, vice-president; Donna Dorn, vice-president and secretary; and JoAnn Bender, vice-president and treasurer. In December 1996, Valley Door Sales moved to a new, larger building at the corner of Northland Avenue and Roemer Road, at the entrance to Appleton’s premier industrial park.
A new name with the same great services
In 2004, we changed the name of all of our locations to Tri City Glass & Door. The name change was an opportunity to better communicate our commercial, residential and automotive glass services. The name change didn’t alter our commitment to purchasing only top quality products from our suppliers, and our team continues to provide the same expertise and product knowledge for our customers.
Moving forward with the same dedication to high-quality glass and door products
Major changes occur in 2016!
In 2016, the Green Bay branch on Mason St. expanded its building. The existing building was renovated to improve the customer experience and flow of the current production area. The project included a two-story office addition, a showroom expansion and remodel, and a production facility addition. Also in 2016, another owner, JoAnn Bender retired from the company, while Larry Bender and Donna Dorn continue family owner and leadership. 2016 brings more excitement as Tri City Glass & Door begins the transition to an ESOP company! Tri City Glass & Door Inc is now employee-owned. What does it mean to be an ESOP company? ESOP stands for employee stock ownership plan and means that every employee that works on a project is an owner of Tri City Glass & Door. This is exciting news for a company that has been in business for approximately 60 years.
